GEOTAR is a group of companies established 20 years ago.

We have expertise in publishing specific medical literature. Currently the catalogue includes around 1500 original Russian and translated titles which makes more than 70% of the market with up to 300 new titles annually.

2005

Software division

Since 2005 we have established software division, which develops e-books and e-libraries for physicians and medical schools.

Nowadays

Nowadays all Russian medical schools have subscription to our e-libraries, which contain more than 10 000 titles of books and journals in the Russian and Kazakh languages.

2009

Simulation facilities

We have been developing simulation facilities in medical schools in Russia and Kazakhstan since 2009, after 5 years of development we have fledged division of the company, which provides full range of solutions and services for simulation centers.

2013

Cooperation with National Medical Chamber

In cooperation with National Medical Chamber GEOTAR Publishing House started providing of content and services for CME development project in Russia in 2013. We are providing CME content for the majority of medical specialties now.

The company is engaged in its own development and production of educational simulators, modernization of existing simulators, as well as development and implementation of hardware and software complexes for conducting Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSСE).

Leonardo Dental is a unique simulator that combines tooth preparation on a phantom with simultaneous 3D visualization of every action on a screen and automatic assessment of the performed procedure

The simulator consists of a portable, multifunctional dental unit and an electromagnetic tracking system, which reproduces in real time position of a virtual handpiece on the screen, while a pre-installed software assesses the accuracy of the conducted procedures

Intended use of the dental training simulator

The dental training simulator is intended for training and certification of dental specialists, for the training of students, interns, for the development of manual skills in dentistry. The product allows to conduct training in dental practice that reproduces real conditions of the patient?s visit and simulate the operation on the dental unit with a high level of accuracy.

Scope of use of the simulator

The simulator is to be applied at the departments of dentistry of institutions of higher education or simulation centers for the development of manual skills of dental students, as well as control of manual skills in postgraduate students.

Simulator appearance
  • The simulator emulates a dental unit with hanging hose
  • It allows to reproduce real conditions of patient visit and to accurately simulate the work on the dental unit with real instruments:
    • air/water syringe
    • saliva ejector
    • microturbine
    • micromotor with a straight handpiece
    • micromotor with a contra-angle handpiece
  • The simulator includes a water suction/supply control pedal
  • A water drain is installed in the manikin head
  • The simulator contains built-in buttons of the manikin lift mechanism
  • The manikin head contains a universal model of the upper and lower jaw for preparation and restoration, with a soft gum and a set of 28 teeth, as well as a water drain
  • The built-in metal articulator allows to reproduce the natural movements of the lower jaw in all possible anatomical positions:
    • occlusion
    • protrusion
    • retrusion
  • The teeth are removable and fixed in specially designed holes in the jaw
  • Teeth are fastened screw-free, due to which it is possible to practice tooth extraction techniques
  • Possibility for preparation of hard tooth tissues in order to remove pathologically altered tissues and create a cavity shape that provides convenient and technological filling, preservation of the strength characteristics of the tooth, as well as strength, reliable fixation, aesthetics and medical efficiency of the fillings
  • Possibility for all types of cavity preparation according to the Black's approach

  • Possibility of practicing orthopedic dentistry lessons (inlays, liners, crowns, dental bridges)
  • On the upper part of the simulator body there is a pantograph with an LED lamp and a camera
  • The camera allows to record the lesson, as well as remotely view the process of working with the manikin in real time

Each lesson is a complete module with history data, images, visual instructions and videos on how to perform the manipulations. The Anesthesia module is represented by an interactive questionnaire, where the student gets an anamnesis from a virtual patient in a live chat mode. Based on the results of this survey, the type of anesthesia and the rest of parameters are selected, and the software assesses the correctness of the choice of each parameter and indicates errors during the collection of anamnesis.

The entire training process is recorded on a camera and a video file is saved for each user. It can be viewed in the library and used for debriefing or appeal.

The software has a built-in lesson editor that allows the teacher to create and edit lessons on their own, adjusting the simulator to the individual needs of each user.

Interface can be localized in English or other languages.
